About This Offer

Welcome to the ArtistShare Musician Participant Offer! By participating at this level you will be playing an absolutely integral part in the creation of this album imagining the house band aboard the Alcoa steamships, cruising from New Orleans through the Caribbean in the 1950s.

For the Musician Offer, I’m happy to offer a private lesson on Skype/Zoom, or ideally in person here in New Orleans. We can talk shop on trombone, or get into going about learning music and approaching different styles regardless of instrument. I love to play and listen to traditional New Orleans music, but even that can be broken down into different styles depending on the era, rhythmic feel, setting or bandleader. Let’s listen to records, share a coffee or cocktail, watch some videos of the masters, play a little music and talk shop.

As part of the lesson, I'll provide you with a personal playlist featuring traditional New Orleans music, 1950s R&B, as well as calypsos and beguines from the 1930s - 1960s. Songs that inspire this project, my own pre-existing recordings featuring tropicalia and traditional New Orleans music recorded with a number of different ensembles, and sound great pumped in the kitchen, poolside, or lounging on the beach.

I’m also happy to present a 4 day itinerary for visiting New Orleans in the fall of 2021. Up to date recommendations for live music, delicious food, shopping and cultural activities. New Orleans is very much a city that respects its culture and history while moving forward - Come see the traditions we’re exploring on this album preserved and pushed forward in this northernmost port of the Caribbean.

As we work on this project together, I’m looking forward to sharing my creative process with you through exclusive videos, photos, downloads, and of course, keeping everybody updated on the status of the album as we get into rehearsals, recording, and post production, all made possible by your generous support! All aboard!
