About this project
Between the fall of 2011 and spring of 2012, I had the incredible opportunity to spend some time as an artist-in-residence sponsored by Hanceher Auditorium at the University of Iowa. I worked with young students in school music programs from all over the state. As a New Yorker and native New Englander, who went to college in Texas, this developed into a wonderful experience to learn more about the Great Midwest. Now I want to share that experience with you. Welcome to my fan-funded ArtistShare project, New Road: Iowa Memoirs.I decided to chronicle my experiences in the best way any musician knows how, by writing music that reflected my journey. Through this music I hope that you will join me as we explore the different inspiring events that occurred during my time in Iowa. I was influenced by the wonderful people, the music that I heard there, the feeling of being surrounded by people close to you, the landscapes, and simple "every-day" tasks like finding breakfast. These are the things I hoped to capture with my music and you are invited to become a part of bringing it to life.
As a participant, you will have the opportunity to access the creative process behind the making of this music. I will share stories about the music, my handwritten sketches, photos, performance footage, and more.
Become an integral part of New Road: Iowa Memoirs.
