"The Thompson Fields" was commissioned through ArtistShare by Christophe Asselineau.
It was recorded on The Thompson Fields. It has an unusual solo section in the middle that creates a bi-tonal landscape. It requires an improviser (either guitar or piano) who is willing to think outside of traditional jazz language--someone who think coloristically and who is willing to try and conjure up an image of the open fields or the midwest.
We're included a video of the premiere, where you'll hear we took a different approach with solos. We've also include a mix with no solos so you can experiment with the bitonal harmony yourself. Additionally you'll find streamed video by myself and Frank Kimbrough.
