About This Offer

Recorded on Evanescence, "Green Piece" features reed 4 (tenor) and piano (Rick Margitza and Kenny Werner on our recording). There's some doubling, but not a lot. It's good to have one decent flute player in the altos. The other has flute parts that could be played on soprano if need be.

I've played this piece for many years, having various players play either solos. One thing that we've come to do on the second solo is to open it up to be a rubato open solo, either for piano, or piano with one solo horn, like flügel or baritone. Choose a lyrical player for that spot.

With the help of streamed interviews conducted with the musicians who have performed this, as well as my video on rehearsing this piece, you should find success with playing "Green Piece."
