Recorded on Evanescence back in 1992, "Dance You Monster to My Soft Song" features trumpet 4 and guitar (Tim Hagans and Ben Monder). We've since re-recorded this piece on The Thompson Fields as an extra download, with alto (Dave Pietro) playing on the first solo, and dueling trumpets (Mike Rodriguez and Greg Gisbert) on the second solo. We've performed it with dueling trombones as well. We included an MP3 of this version so you can see how many bars they each played on the trading section. On the first solo section, we have had just about every instrument give it a whirl. I worked at one school (Butler University) where a marvelous young electric bass player soloed on the second solo section before the trumpet began. It was just great. There are no doubles and it is not difficult to play. You can be creative with this piece. It makes a great opener or closer.
You will receive interviews with my musicians, a video where I talk about the rehearsal of this piece, and a solo-less MP3 of the track – all materials that will surely help your group find their way to a successful performance.
