About This Offer

Recorded on Data Lords, "A World Lost" opens the first of the two CDs. This is a piece meant to conjure up the feeling of loss, in this case, loss of our internal world that is more and more invaded and influenced by the inundation of digital information via the internet.

There are many challenges to playing this piece: getting comfortable with the meters so that the time flows gracefully, pacing the piece so that it has a slow build, getting the drummer to play with intricacy and grace amidst all of the meter changes, and then, it is just very difficult for the brass. It takes the lead trumpet to written F's and Gb's. The lead trombone is up in the high Db range. These aren’t short hits, but sustained lines, so this requires a skilled band in every way. And of course, what it requires from the guitarist and featured tenor player is formidable.
