This piece was commissioned by Jazz at Lincoln Center. It uses flamenco rhythms and requires one cajon, or better yet, two cajons, both familiar with flamenco rhythms. It's possible to have your drummer sit on a cajon and play cajon and drums, depending on the section of the piece they're in. Also, contrabass trombone and contrabass clarinet are optional but wonderful if you are lucky enough to have them.
The scores and parts are also in your account as 'downloads.' Interviews should help players and directors understand how to approach the music by tapping the experience of the magnificent musicians who have shaped it to be their own over the years.
