Oct 02 2015 - Artist Spotlight: Donny McCaslin

As a leader, Donny McCaslin has released 12 records. Casting for Gravity featuring his innovative electro-acoustic quartet, earned him Grammy nomination for Best Instrumental Jazz Solo. His virtuosity and lyrical abilities on the saxophone have given him the chance to work with legends in both jazz and the world of contemporary music. In 2014, David Bowie hand picked him, as well as trombonist Ryan Keberle, to be the soloist on the new song he had composed with Maria Schneider, “Sue (Or in a Season of Crime)”.

This year, Donny is featured on two ArtistShare projects, the Gil Evans Project’s Lines of Color and Maria Schneider’s The Thompson Fields.

Lines of Color and The Thompson Fields have both been submitted for consideration in the 58th Grammy Awards. For more information on all the artists submitted click here.
