Feb 13 2014 - Coming Soon - Gil Evans: LIVE in NYC

We're delighted to announce a new upcoming Blue Note/ArtistShare fan-funded project - the Gil Evans Project: LIVE at the Jazz Standard.

Ryan Truesdell and the Gil Evans Project Ensemble will be recording LIVE during their fourth-annual, week-long engagement at the Jazz Standard in New York City, Tuesday through Sunday, May 13th – 18th, 2014. Their performances will feature a wide variety of Gil's works, ranging from music he did for the Claude Thornhill Orchestra in the 1940s to the music written for various recording sessions through the late-60s. They will be recording many recently-discovered, previously un-recorded works that will be heard here for the first time, in addition to some of Gil’s classic arrangements!

Through this project, you will be able to experience the entire creative process behind the documentation of some of these great unknown works of the luminary composer/arranger, Gil Evans.  Along the way Ryan and the band will be sharing video, audio shows, downloads, photos, and news keeping you updated on the status and progress of this once in a lifetime event, made possible by you. By participating in this project you are playing an integral role in the creation of a new, historical recording of previously un-recorded Gil Evans music!

Keep an eye out for the Blue Note/ArtistShare Gil Evans Project: LIVE in NYC, launching soon!
