Edward Simon is a seasoned and talented jazz pianist, with several CD's to his credit. Leonardo Granados is a vocalist and percussionist. Together, they are embarking on what is sure to be a very exciting and stimulating project for themselves and their fans; an album of boleros.
Edward grew up playing boleros, accompanying Leonardo when they were both young. It's a music that's near and dear to both musicians and they envision this project as a gift or form of payback to two very special people in their lives; Edward's father and Leonardo's mother.
Ed and Leo are excited to announce that they will be joined with a stella group of guest artists:
- Multi Grammy
Award winning saxophonist Paquito D’Rivera
- Marco Granados on flute
- Ali Bello on
Violin & Viola
- Andy Gonzalez on Double Bass.
- Brenda Feliciano on Vocals.
They hope to attract bolero lovers of all ages, as well as those listeners who are attracted to the jazz aesthetic, as the musicians hope to successfully marry these two musical styles into a satisfying whole. To accompany this Ed and Leo will also include a short lecture, available by download, that explains what a bolero is and gives a short history of this art form.
For the high-level participants, the recorded boleros of this project may be individually dedicated to them as a thank you for helping fund the project.
