This is the third part of 'Three Romances,' which was commissioned by the University of Miami, and which I recorded on 'Concert in the Garden.' The University of Miami has recorded these pieces as well. This particular piece features solos for piano and trombone. It takes the lead trumpet up to a concert Ab on the end. But don't let that scare you, because one almost hears the note even if the player misses. Trust me, I've heard people miss it before, but I wasn't even sure if they did or not. I had to ask. Otherwise, this piece is definitely the easiest of the three parts. It's a foxtrot--a two-beat. It should be played loosely in the drums, but none-the-less, it's the most traditional of the pieces on this recording. It can be performed as a single piece without the other two movements.
