Aires de Lando was commissioned by the Los Angeles Philharmonic Association Esa-Pekka Salonen, Music Director, Dianne Reeves, Creative Chair for Jazz, February 8th, 2006 and was given its world premiere at Walt Disney Concert Hall in Los Angeles. It's recorded on Sky Blue (2007). It's a clarinet feature, but I've also performed it as an accordion feature. We're including an additional solo part in C. You could even feature violin if you have a great soloist. The trickiest part of this piece is the fact that it's a multi-metered lando (a Peruvian rhythm). But this is a chance for your percussionist to learn about a great rhythm on cajon. We're including an mp3 of cajons alone w/bass, and then the horns with no cajons so that your students have a version to practice with, as well as a practice version for your soloist. We'll also give you a version with no drums for your drummer.
