Follow in the evolution in the quartet and in the composing and arranging of the leader. “New Standards” is a more conventional jazz CD, in comparison, containing many tunes with a swing beat and arrangements of famous jazz standards. “Reflection” is more even 8th orientated with different feelings and grooves, including swing. It contains all original pieces by Ed and the other members of the quartet: Fritz Pauer – piano, John Hollenbeck – drums and Drew Gress – bass. One could say that “Reflection” is more atmospheric. They were both recorded while on tour in Europe.
