Bombshelter Beast is the first movement of Scenes from Childhood that was commissioned by the Monterey Jazz Festival. It was recorded on Coming About. It's a powerful and aggressive piece that features a boisterous baritone solo and prominent electric guitar. It's a great feature for a guitarist that can really rock out. There are no woodwind doubles. It can be played on acoustic bass, but it's more fun on electric. It's a little tricky rhythmically, but once everyone gets it in their ear it's not too bad, especially with the help of the recording.
